Collyweston

Located in Northamptonshire, approximately three miles south-west of Stamford, is the village of Collyweston.

Northamptonshire has long been a popular location for development. Located at the ‘crossroads of England‘, it is fast expanding, with major national companies attracted by its central location and local communities growing as people move into the area to work.

The latest report by the Northamptonshire investment promotion agency has stated that the county is required to provide 99,950 new homes by 2021, after a study commissioned by Invest Northamptonshire and Northamptonshire County Council (Northamptonshire Commercial Property and Employment Land Assessment, 2008).

The county has planned to “make suitable land available for development” to cover demand through to 2021, projecting that as well as residential, the local area requires 406,644 square metres of warehousing floor space, and a massive 654,861 square metres of office space (Northamptonshire Commercial Property and Employment Land Assessment, 2008).

Aston Lloyd’s land lies directly adjacent to Collyweston, next to plots of land which have regularly been granted planning permission. In 2009 permission was granted for a new development on a greenfield site, i.e. previously undeveloped, which is the same category as Aston Lloyd’s land. The Drove, where the land is located has a number of documents regarding planning permission.

The value of 4 bedroom houses in Collyweston is up 2% in March 2010 from February, showing that the area is recovering from the economic downturn well, and is expected to continue to grow.
